STANDING WITH THOSE WHO STOOD BETWEEN THE FIRE AND US

When wildfires threatened Reno and the surrounding Northern Nevada communities, our first responders ran toward the danger while families were trying to escape it.

“Between the Fire and Us” was written for them, for the firefighters on the ground, the pilots fighting from above, the dispatchers behind the radios, and every first responder who put their life between the flames and our families.

This is more than a song. It is an opportunity to stand behind the people who stood between the fire and us.

100% of the proceeds I receive from purchases of “Between the Fire and Us” will be donated to support first responders through Truckee Meadow Firefighter Foundation.

“Between the Fire and Us” was born from watching my own community burn.

Over the past two weeks, Reno and the surrounding Northern Nevada communities have faced three devastating wildfires, the Bug, the Stallion, and now the Hawk Fire. We watched daylight disappear behind smoke, mountains turn orange and flames move terrifyingly close to homes, families, and everything we love.

While the rest of us watched, prayed, packed our belongings, or prepared to leave, firefighters and first responders went the other way. Ground crews stood in the burning dirt. Pilots and air crews flew into smoke filled skies. Dispatchers kept frightened voices calm. Complete strangers risked their lives to protect people they may never meet.

This song is my thank you to every person who stood between the fire and us. Because after seeing what they faced for my town, “hero” just doesn’t feel like a big enough word anymore.
